The Nigerian Army has taken repsonsibility for the several explosions/gunshots that rocked Maiduguri, Borno state earlier today.
A statement from the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, said the gun shots fired on Saturday morning by the Military was geared towards putting fear in the hearts of members of the terror group, Boko Haram so they do not attack.
Musa in his statement stated that there was no attack in the capital city as being reported.
“As of now Borno, especially Maiduguri township is calm and peaceful. People have already started voting in many locations across the state,” he said.
He also said the military repeled an attack on a security outpost in Geidam general area in Yobe state this morning. He said that no casualty was recorded.
