So the Reds hold on and on the balance of play, they will argue they deserved it.
The first half showing from Chelsea was so poor that they can have few complaints but they will also know that they could have snatched at least a point in that second half.
Liverpool were superb in the first half and Henderson’s goal was worthy of winning any match.
But they too will acknowledge they failed to build on that great first half and could have let it slip after the restart.
FULL-TIME: CHELSEA 1-2 LIVERPOOL.
Minimum of three minutes to be added on says the fourth official.
Liverpool make their final change to wind the clock down, with Wijnaldum replaced by Kevin Stewart.
STRAIGHT INTO THE WALL! All that for nothing! Fabregas gets to take ahead of Luiz, and he smashes an effort straight into the sea of red shirts. That's simply inexcusable.
Naive from Lucas who is lured into committing a foul atop the area on Hazard, who was fishing for it the whole way. Stamford Bridge getting loud again as this free-kick is in the perfect area for Chelsea to snatch an equaliser.
Jurgen Klopp recorded his first Premier League win against the Blues at Stamford Bridge in October 2015, and he's on course to make it a perfect two for two over Chelsea in London. Liverpool are looking so assured in seeing this one out, coming under next to no pressure at all for the time being.

Sounds exciting but why so late?
When a manager makes a triple change, it is usually a sign of him really going for it.
But in the case of Chelsea tonight, why did Conte leave it so late?
The Blues have looked off the pace compared to their opponents in red but Conte waited until the final ten minutes to bring on Fabregas, Pedro and Moses.
Fabregas comes on in place of Matic.
Pedro enters the fray at the expense of Oscar.
Wholesale changes for Chelsea - three of them to be exact. The first sees Victor Moses replace Willian.
STUNNING SAVE! That's absolutely terrific from Courtois, who reacts brilliantly to get a hand down to keep out Origi's header from six yards! That would have seen the game done and dusted, but the big, Belgian keeper has had his say!
Coutinho is replaced by Lucas Leiva, who reignites his rivalry with Oscar and Chelsea.
Changes imminent for both sides now. It looks as though the hosts are set to bring on Pedro and Fabregas. Is it too little, too late for Chelsea, however? The duo will have just 10 minutes to make an impact, and that's if they can get on quick.
Calm restored
Liverpool have calmed things down a bit and Chelsea’s threat has reduced.
They were on the ropes for a while but they regained their defensive shape and took the sting out of the match.
The Reds have now regained the majority of possession and fans can take a breath.
BLOCKED! Chelsea are being pinned in their own end right now. Clyne makes a strong run down the right and picks out Coutinho in the centre. The Brazilian turns and fires a strong effort at goal, but Cahill manages to take all the sting out of it with a partial deflection!
STAT: Chelsea have lost just once on a Friday in the Premier League, losing 4-2 to Charlton Athletic in December 2003 (W2 D3).
Still a real lack of activity on the Chelsea touchline. They need to make a change, as fatigue starts to set in. These attackers are running with wax legs and it's really helped alleviate the pressure this Liverpool defence were coming under.
It's all turning a bit stale from Chelsea, losing some of that energy that had them very much on the ascendency for much of this second half. Luiz commits a horrible giveaway deep in his own end, allowing Liverpool to break, but Mane strays offside to let the centre-half off the hook.
Great example of how costly one error can be
Costa’s goal is a prime example of how one error can completely change the momentum of a game.
Liverpool were deserving of their two-goal lead and Chelsea looked unlikely to grab the double that they needed.
But some sloppy defending gave them hope and they almost snatched an equaliser moments later.
Liverpool need to take the pace out of the game a bit and get their foot on the ball.
It is end-to-end at the moment and with 20 minutes left, if this pace continues then it looks destined for another goal. But which way will it go?
Stamford Bridge has been revived, but there's a real heart in the throat moment as Milner's free-kick is so nearly put into the back of the net, but the Reds are denied only by the terrific defensive header by Ivanovic. The right-back has not had the best of nights, but he came up big there.
This has been an excellent response from Conte's Chelsea. His half-time team talk has obviously resonated in the heads of these players, who have flipped the script without a substitution being made just yet. Is that because Conte has blind faith in this XI, or does he not trust some of the options off the bench?
STAT: Diego Costa has scored six goals in his last six Premier League appearances, including five in five under Antonio Conte this season.
Decisive goalkeeping from Mignolet who comes off his line to clear Hazard's dangerous free-kick. Meanwhile, Ivanovic has gone down after taking the brunt of a collision inside the area, which brings play to a temporary halt.
More terrible defending
Chelsea needed a lifeline and they were partly gifted one by Liverpool.
Matic did well to get to the byline but Matip needlessly dived on the floor in a pitiful attempt to tackle and then Lallana did the same.
Costa does well to volley in from close range but Klopp will be furious with that defending.
Matic provides the assist, following a wonderfully dazzling run down the left.
