Sunderland have been told they must pay £10million for Dynamo Kiev defenderDomagoj Vida after their £6million bid was rejected, reports the Sunday People.
The Croatia star, 27, can play right-back or centre-back and figured in three of his country’s four games at Euro 2016 as they reached the round of 16 before losing to tournament winners Portugal after extra-time.
Sunderland did business with Ukrainian champions Dynamo last summer when former boss Dick Advocaat signed Holland winger Jeremain Lens for £9million.
New manager David Moyes made a transfer breakthrough late on Friday when Senegal centre-back Papy Djilobodji joined from Chelsea for £8million on a four-year deal to become Sunderland’s first summer signing.
