Bastian Schweinsteiger has had the door slammed shut on a potential lifeline in the shape of a return to Bayern Munich.
The German champions’ new boss Carlo Ancelotti has vetoed any chance of an emotional reunion.
Ancelotti said: “In football there is no if. (Signing) Schweinsteiger is not in our ideas.”
Schweinsteiger, whose contract expires in 2018, has been exiled at Manchester United by new boss Jose Mourinho.
The 32-year-old superstar has been told to train with the kids, clear his locker and change with United’s secondary group.
