Arsenal target Jonny Evans “could play in a top-four Premier League club” according to Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill.
The West Brom star has been linked with a move to the Gunners , who are in desperate need of reinforcements to boost their injury-hit defence.
Per Mertesacker and Gabriel are injured, leaving Arsene Wenger with Laurent Koscielny and rookies Calum Chambers and Rob Holding as his options at the back.
Evans starred for the Green Army at Euro 2016, and O’Neill insists the former Manchester United centre-half can still cut it at the top end of the table.
“Jonny was outstanding in France,” O’Neill said. “He can switch in and out of systems.
“He’s a top-level player and could play in a top-four Premier League club. The interest from Arsenal doesn’t surprise me.”
