Police kill 3 suspected kidnappers in Port Harcourt
The bandits were alleged to be involved in the abduction of a bank manager in the state capital.
GISTMELIFE gathered that the victim, who was kidnapped on December 13, was rescued yesterday, when police operatives stormed the hideout of his captors in Rumuola area of Port Harcourt.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmad Muhammad, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), while confirming the report, said the operatives acted on discreet information.
“The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the public of the safe rescue of a kidnapped victim. At about 12:10pm, on a tip-off, police operatives stormed the kidnappers’ den located at Rumuola, where their victim was kept,” he said.
The PPRO said the suspects engaged the police operatives in a gun duel, leading to the death of three members of the gang.
He said a locally made pistol was recovered from the kidnappers’ den after a search of the hideout.
